free guided playgroups for children 0-5 years old and their caregivers
Literacy development begins the moment your baby starts using their 5 senses - the day they're born! Their brains immediately begin to take all that they see, smell, hear, touch, and taste, store that information in small bits, and connect those bits to make meaning of the world around them - to survive and to communicate. In the years from birth to age 3, the brain has the capacity to absorb and connect more information than it ever will again. In fact, by age 3, a child's brain is twice as active as an adult's.
How do they learn so much so fast? The answer is PLAY!

KINDERBRIDGE is a safe place for caregivers to bring their 0-5 year-old child to learn the best ways to play at each developmental stage. In each 90 minute group, you'll get:
- 30 minutes of Grown-Up Time (Yay!!) where kids are playing safely with background-checked volunteers and parents have a chance to learn from Sara, our Kinderbridge teacher (more about her below). This is a great space to get ideas, ask questions, and discuss the topic with other parents in the same stage.
- 30 minutes of Large Group Activity with the kids - We'll teach you an easy game you can recreate at home, new and catchy songs the kids will love, and storytime of course! This helps prepare your child to pay attention to a leader, follow directions, and take turns.
- 30 minutes of Parent/Child Free Play - Use our dramatic play centers and age-appropriate toys to follow your child's lead in play. This is the most valuable gift we can give to our kids!
Each child will leave with a free book and a take-home toy or tool. Come learn and play with us!!

Meet Sara Hill, Kinderbridge Coordinator:
Some years ago, Sara was once a Kindergartener right here in Amarillo. She was in Mrs. Kornegy's class at Ridgecrest Elementary and remembers how much she loved Circus Day! She grew up to become a teacher herself and a mother to 3 beautiful daughters. 22 years of Amarillo children have been loved and inspired to learn at Mrs. Hill's feet in classrooms at Hamlet Elementary and First Baptist Church. She is gifted with creativity (Guess who came up with the name "Kinderbridge?"), energy, and a desire to serve. She pours all of that into each Kinderbridge group and can't wait to meet you!
